I like to think that makes me quite the homes expert, or at least very experienced and with a clear idea of what I like and don't like in a home. I love visiting and writing about old houses for Period Living and featuring rural properties for Country Homes & Interiors, and working with photographers to capture all kinds of historic homes. Sarah is a freelance journalist and editor writing for websites, national newspapers, and magazines. She loves testing the latest home appliances, revealing the trends in furnishings and fittings for every room, and investigating the benefits, costs and practicalities of home improvement. It's no big surprise that she likes to put what she writes about into practice, and is a serial house revamper. I've been writing and editing features on interiors and gardens for nearly 30 years, starting out at Ideal Home magazine. I've also moved house quite a few times – totting up 10 homes in 12 years during a particularly nomadic time in my life.
Natalie Tredgett is an interior designer known for her inimitable use of color in combination with distinctive artworks. Natalie founded her studio in 2012 having established herself under design guru Nicky Haslam. Having graduated with a degree in English Literature, I started my career as a features writer and sub-editor at Period Living magazine, H&G's sister title. Over the past six years, I have been learning all the intricacies of owning and caring for a period home from designing a luxury bathroom through to choosing the right windows for your old property. From here, I have honed my writing, developing interest in traditional interior design, especially kitchens. Writing for the Homes & Gardens website as a content editor, alongside Period Living and Country Homes & Interiors magazines, has also enabled me to write content focused around my interests, gardening and nature.
There’s nothing I love more than getting out in the garden and adding new plants to my ever growing collection. Cynthia Lawrence is a freelance lifestyle and interiors journalist, and writes for various national publications. With an obsession for all things homes and gardens, she also has an interior design blog and spends most of her time surfing online for interiors inspiration to revamp her home. For Homes & Gardens, Cynthia helps find the best products for you kitchen, and has been testing stand mixers, coffee machines and more. Lara has worked in the ever-changing world of interiors and lifestyle journalism for many years. She cut her teeth in a busy newsroom of a kitchen and bathroom business title where she gained vast product knowledge and industry contacts that would prove invaluable.

Kate Burnett is a journalist and editor who has been writing about residential design and architecture for nearly 20 years. A former acting executive editor of Homes & Gardens and Livingetc, she has written for national newspapers and magazines including the Financial Times, Evening Standard and Sunday Times. A trained designer, she has also worked with leading architecture and design practices including dRMM and Keechdesign.
Arabella is a freelance journalist writing for national newspapers, magazines and websites including Homes & Gardens, Country Life, The Telegraph and The Times. Moving across to the magazine, she became the property editor and also was responsible for spear-heading its new regular interiors section, which has now a firm fixture in its make up. In 2016, she left her position as property and interiors editor and went freelance. I was part of a team that launched Easy Gardens magazine two years ago and I continue to edit it today. I am also a gardens writer for Homes & Gardens, Country Homes & Interiors, Ideal Home and Style At Home so I am lucky enough to see and write about gardening across all sizes, budgets and abilities. What I am most passionate about when it comes to gardening are the positive effects it has on our mental health to grow and care for plants.
Before joining Future, I worked as a News Explainer atThe Telegraph, following my MA in International Journalism at the University of Leeds. During my BA in English Literature and Creative Writing, I gained writing experience in the US while studying in New York. I also focused on travel writing during my time living in Paris, where I produced content for a French travel site.
My personal style is influenced by dark, earthy color schemes and I am an advocate for cozy homes you can escape the world in. Outside of work there is nothing I like more than taking life slowly and pottering around my kitchen baking. After studying English at university, my first jobs were at the Financial Times, followed by Radio Times.

As well as overseeing and art directing the original photography we produce, I also lead on many of the design ideas you see in print and online. New England-raised, New York-based interior designer Kathleen Walsh creates tailored and serene interiors for clients in New York City, Westchester and Fairfield Counties, The Hamptons, New England, and beyond. Kathleen entered Pratt Institute for Fashion but discovered what she really loved was the tactile, three-dimensional qualities of fabric and the transformational qualities of color.
