Despite its disastrous outcome, the famed White Star Line vessel continues to inspire cruise travel to this day and was the catalyst for its modern safety provisions in the form of SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea). It’s a good documentary, and definitely worth watching if you’ve ever cruised to any of the privately-owned islands in the Caribbean. But you do still get to see some parts of the cruising experience as part of the show, as Jane shares her expert knowledge of the cruise industry and chats to various members of the crew. There was a short follow-up series, called Return to…The Cruise that reflected on the original series from Jane’s perspective. There are 5 episodes of that show also available, but it consists of a lot of clips of the original.
Jane McDonald: Cruising…
Following the success of Mighty Ships, a spin-off series called Mighty Cruise Ships was first shown in 2014 on the Discovery Channel. There were 26 episodes in total – 6 in each of the first three seasons, and 8 in the final season. There is more of a focus on the destination with these series – episodes are titled based on where the ships are sailing too, and it’s more of a traditional travel show that follows Jane visiting landmarks and destinations. Join actor Hugh Laurie as he captains a luxury cruise space ship 40 years into the future. After a technical malfunction onboard, he must remain calm as he deals with complaints from rude, disagreeable passengers. In addition to a quirky, futuristic plot, "Avenue 5" also boasts an impressive cast, including Laurie, Josh Gad, Zach Woods, Rebecca Front and Suzy Nakamura.

Award-winning war correspondent Guy Foster, distraught after the loss of his first wife, joins a cruise to Cape Town, where he meets beautiful and mysterious Melissa. A sophisticated blonde PR girl, Melissa is travelling with an exuberant group of media friends. Guy falls desperately in love with the exotic Melissa and she suggests they marry. The finger of suspicion falls on Guy – and when Melissa herself is killed, he is found bending over her bloodied corpse. The upstairs and downstairs worlds collide when this young and single crew of "yachties" live, love and work together onboard a luxurious mega yacht while tending to the ever-changing needs of their wealthy, demanding charter guests. The series premiered on September 29, 1956, and ran until 1960 for 143 half-hour black-and-white episodes, initially on CBS and in its last year on ABC.
Christmas Cruising with Susan Calman
Cruise Ship Killers is a true crime series that tells the stories of people who never returned home after taking a holiday on a cruise ship, featuring interviews with family, friends, invest... This U.K.-based documentary reality series chronicles the lives of crewmembers onboard various Princess cruise ships that visit destinations all over the globe. Their antics offer an insider's look at what the crew's life is like behind the scenes, and, of course, there's no shortage of drama. Bookended by three made-for-TV movies in 1976 and several television specials into the '90s, this fictional romantic comedy/drama series is loosely based on nonfiction book "The Love Boats," written by former cruise director Jeraldine Saunders. In the show, the ship -- Princess Cruises' former Pacific Princess -- is helmed by Captain Merrill Stubing, who leads a regular cast of characters as they juggle their personal relationships while entertaining passengers on fictional voyages.

These ships are built for their destinations, whether intended to endure the harsh cold temperatures and narrow passageways of the Nordic fjords or to breeze through the coastlines of Scotland. It even goes so far as to computer-generated animations in order to better explain to its audience certain aspects of the ship that cannot be seen or visited in person. Interlaced with that are interviews with the crew as they provide more information about the ship as well as what life is like aboard it. While the previous shows primarily display the crew’s interactions with each other and the guests, Mighty Ships focuses heavily on the operational and technical side of running the ships. Mighty Ships lets you in on all the secrets these vessels hold throughout their voyages; from preparations made for the journey to the voyage itself, and ending when their job has been successfully delivered. Old relationships are tested while new ones are formed (often to the chagrin of others), but there’s never a dull day on Parsifal III.
Navy captain Jim Kennedy III takes the helm of a Caribbean cruise ship - along with its crew mates - on adventuresome voyages that sometimes lead to romance. If you’re like us, you need to satisfy your cruising cravings (in between actual cruises of course). Good thing there are plenty of Cruising TV Shows dedicated to the topic of cruise ships and cruising.

The three episodes have received mixed reviews, with the Radio Times describing it as "like comedy in 1973" and also "you can see each joke a mile off", but generally liking the show. Kootje won a cruise on the Rhine and takes Door with him on vacation. The complete shutdown of cruising since March due to the coronavirus pandemic is keeping you away from your favorite floating hideaways, and it doesn't look like you'll be back at sea anytime soon. The TV channel lineup on Royal Caribbean is similar to Carnival in that the list is relatively short, along with a number of stations you won’t find anywhere and/or are related to the cruise. Therefore the channel listings below should give you an idea of what’s available, but could be different from what you see on your cruise.
Scenes also were shot at Royal Caribbean's private beach retreat in Haiti. Sports 24 features international sporting events from nightly NBA games to cricket matches in Australia. One of the newest shows on this list of top cruise ship shows is BBC Three’s horror-comedy series Wreck. Each season of Below Deck follows the young crew of a superyacht during the ever-busy charter season, chronicling their lives both working and living aboard the vessel. Narrowly based on the time a rogue wave did actually hit the RMS Queen Mary during a troop crossing in December 1942 but without the ship capsizing, the earlier picture dramatizes the fictional Poseidon completely flipping over.
Mighty Cruise Ships truly lets us see the best cruises there are to offer. Each episode brings us aboard a brand new ship – each with its own features, amenities, and cutting-edge technology that only seems to get better as the episodes progress. The Cruise shows us the hustle and bustle of maintaining their five-star service as they go from Copenhagen to St. Petersburg, the Mediterranean, and even Alaska throughout its five seasons. On a cruise ship, you have access to amenities like a gym, pool, spa, arcade room, restaurants, what have you. Renting a yacht, though, provides a more personal and luxurious experience. Chef Adam Glick, who was on two seasons of Below Deck Mediterranean, joins the Sailing Yacht crew this year.
It seems to be that the offerings vary regularly and from ship to ship. On board, the ships cater to every aesthetic too – interested in Viking history? Check out Carnival Vista and their suspended bike loop and waterpark!
That’s no longer available on the ITV Hub, unfortunately, which is a shame as it had six seasons. The Booze Cruise is a series of three feature length comedy dramas written for British television by Paul Minett and Brian Leveson. After being dumped by her fiancé, Yama meets cruise director Jason, who consoles her. However, when her ex-fiancé wants her back, Jason and Yama have a misunderstanding that causes them to divorce just as immediately.
The Gale Storm Show was co-produced by Independent Television Corporation and Hal Roach Studios. To make our list, a movie or television show had to feature a vessel still in service. Sadly, the fourth season of High Seas was originally planned to continue the series but was subsequently canceled in mid-2020. Josh takes his viewers with him as he travels the globe by ocean, disembarking at every port with the intention of discovering the nooks and crannies of each culture he encounters. This next show takes a much darker turn than those that came before – if you couldn’t tell right away from the title Cruise Ship Killers. If you’ve got an interest in true crime, you’re definitely going to want to add this show to your list.
